Where to buy your VST plugins for creating dubstep

A while ago, I received a mail from a guy who asked me where to buy ‘the best VST plugins for creating dubstep tracks’. Normally I can directly answer questions like – ‘What is the best VST plugin for creating dubstep?’ or ‘What kind of VST plugin would you suggest for creating dubstep wobbles with?’ – with; Native Instruments MASSIVE. But this question was different. The guy is looking for a place where he has a lot of choice instead of buying just one plugin.

So I got curious myself and went looking for a VST plugin ‘warehouse’.
In my search to the best store I took 3 criteria:

1. They HAVE to got a lot of free stuff
2. The prices of the plugins should not be too high
3. They must have Virtual Studio Technology Instruments (VSTi) and Virtual Studio Technology Effects (VSTfx)

After a while I found Pluginboutique.com, which exactly meets the requirements I’ve listed above. I’ll tell you some things about the site in the next paragraph.

VST plugins to the max!

At Pluginboutique.com I found literally the most VST’s in one place. It doesn’t matter if you create dubstep, dance, techno, hip-hop, r&b, drum and bass or whatever – there is always a plugin that fits your needs.

Pluginboutique is the place where the best music software companies come to sell their VST Plugins, Instruments and Studio Tools to you. You can browse Best Selling and Top Rated products and can download Free VST Plugins, Demos and Trial Versions before purchasing.

Customer Ratings and Industry Reviews, Product Videos and a useful Blog are all available on the site to allow you to compare the products available to your individual needs and requirements. A Virtual Cash scheme is also in place which means you earn 5% towards future purchases when you buy Plugins at the Boutique. Your profile area also alerts you to new versions and updates for your purchases.

I think they’re just started because the domain is registered in 2010. This means that they will grow even bigger in the next couple of years. I really hope that they are going to sell the Native Instruments plugins soon – those are really really cool.

Pro’s and cons of pluginboutique

Pro’s:

- All their stuff is VERY high quality
- The price is worth their money – as far as I found out
- They have a LOTTTTTT of free stuff. Go check it out!
- A lot of variety
- You can pay with Paypal and all major credit cards
- No matter where you live, you can buy and download the VST plugins
- You’ll get a notification when your plugin needs to be updated
- They also sell a LOT of  Native Instruments Massive presets, also for creating dubstep!
- They have great support

Cons:

- Their website is slow (this annoys me BIGTIME)
- They don’t sell all the major brands, yet..
- I think the design/website is too busy

Conclusion

I think they did a really great job with bringing a lot of plugins into one place. It’s much better then when you have to struggle around the web searching for the right plugin fitting your needs. So I am happy that they have done so..
I’m also glad about the free section, they really have lots of free VST plugins which helps us beginning artists creating great music without paying lots of money.

It’s a great website, I’m going to use it and will have a tutorial with one of their plugins anywhere in the future.

Thnx for reading,

NATS

How do you use VSTs with Ableton Live (Intro)?

    • Hi Julian,

Did you found this out already?

      • Yes, I figured out that you can’t use VSTs with Ableton Live Intro.

Oh, but what do you think that the best free mac VST is?

    • First of all, where are you going to use the VST for?
I like the Ohmforce VST a lot. You can find them here: https://www.ohmforce.com/

I would use it for making dubstep basslines.

I would use it for making heavy dubstep basslines. Anything free?
